The town is transforming into a Winter Wonderland as the Holiday Happenings returns to the municipal complex this Friday.

This year’s event will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Robb Center and Cormier Youth Center, located at 30-40 Whittier Court. Approximately 500 attendees are expected to enjoy a family-friendly evening filled with holiday activities, live performances, and a special visit from Santa Claus.

According to Ann Ormond, Andover’s Director of Business, Arts, and Cultural Development, the town has been organizing this event for the past six years. Previously held in the downtown area, the event found a new home at the Robb and Youth Centers two years ago. "We no longer have to worry about closing streets, and having everything in one area makes it much safer for families," Ormond said.

Exciting Highlights for This Year

The Polar Express Experience:
This year, children can enjoy a "Polar Express" ride, a creative new addition to the festivities. T&B Landscaping originally designed this themed tractor "train" for Andover’s Santa Parade, and it’s now making its second appearance. The train, approximately the length of two trailers, will take children on a magical journey around the event space, adding a touch of wonder and excitement.

Photos with Santa and Crafts:
Santa Claus will be available for photos throughout the night, while children can participate in holiday-themed crafts inside the Robb Center. "The pivotal moment is always when Santa comes to visit us," Ormond said. "His warm and welcoming presence truly makes the night special for families."

Live Performances:
The Cormier Youth Center will host live performances featuring:

  • Andover School of Ballet

  • Creative Arts Dance Academy

  • Andover Chinese Charm Circle

  • Andover High School Chamber Choir

Outdoor Fun:
A carnival atmosphere will tie the event together with outdoor attractions, including:

  • Bouncy houses

  • Fire pits

  • A dazzling laser show

  • Games for all ages

Candy Cane Hunt and More

The Recreation Department will also host its annual Candy Cane Hunt at The Park on Chestnut and Bartlett Streets from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Children aged 13 and under can join the hunt with flashlights in hand, searching for hundreds of hidden candy canes. One lucky candy cane, marked with a special ribbon, will award a prize. Kids are encouraged to bring their own flashlights and bags for collecting candy.

Why Attend?

"It’s a great way for the community to come together, celebrate the holidays, and create lasting memories," Ormond shared. The combination of festive activities, community spirit, and joyful entertainment makes Holiday Happenings a must-attend event for residents and visitors alike.
