Congratulations to amateur photographers from Andover and North Andover who have been honored in this year's 2022 Essex Heritage Photo Contest. The Essex National Heritage Commission has announced the winners — and runners-up — of the annual photo contest, which encourages photographers to capture the living landscapes, unique places, and interesting people of Essex County. Let's take a look at some of the amazing photos that won!

In the Youth category, Andover's Ashley Sheldon earned second place for her photograph titled "The Path of Clouds." This stunning photo captures a beautiful view of clouds from below as they make their way across an open sky. It is a breathtaking display of color and light that perfectly encapsulates our county's natural beauty.

North Andover's William Putnam took third place in the Downtown category for his photo "North Parish at Night." This black-and-white image showcases an architectural masterpiece as it is lit up against a dark night sky. It is a classic example of how modern technology can bring life to old structures.

The 14 winning images will be on display at the Salem Armory Visitor Center through the end of March, so if you are nearby, be sure to check them out! These photographs demonstrate how art can bring communities together and celebrate local culture.

This year’s inspiring photographs showcase all that is special about Essex County – from its architecture to its natural beauty and more! We are proud to congratulate Ashley Sheldon and William Putnam for their excellent work and encourage others in our area to participate in future contests with their own creative shots!
