The Department of Conservation and Recreation is recommending families to "Go Green on Black Friday" by participating in free, guided hikes at four Massachusetts parks, including Harold Parker State Forest in North Andover.

Conservation and Recreation staff will lead family-friendly hikes on trails ranging from two to three miles, along with self-guided hikes at various state parks.

Commissioner Brian Arrigo stated, "Go Green on Black Friday hikes are a fantastic way to promote stewardship, enjoy our outdoor spaces, and appreciate nature with friends and family. We encourage communities across the state to take advantage of this special program and spend time in their state parks this holiday weekend."

At Harold Parker State Forest, a two-mile hike on moderate trails is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. The hike is suitable for children ages 8 and up, and participants will meet in the parking lot at 305 Middleton Road, North Andover, with free parking available.

To ensure a positive experience, participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water. In case of inclement weather, such as rain, snow, or icy trail conditions, the hike may be canceled. For confirmation of scheduling or more information, interested individuals may call 617-828-1728.

Additional hikes on the same day will take place at Blue Hills Reservation in Milton (10 a.m.-noon), Great Falls Discovery Center in Turners Falls (1-2:30 p.m.), and Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in East Falmouth (10 a.m.-noon).
